More Events

Exceptional learners come with a wide range of strengths and abilities. The program area of Individualized Learning provides leadership and state-level support for public school programs for students aged 3-21 with disabilities, English Learners, and supports Indiana's Response to Instruction(RtI) framework. We ensure Indiana is in compliance with the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) through monitoring of special education programs, oversight of community and residential programs, provision of mediation and due process rights and sound fiscal management. The eligibility categories are included: autism spectrum disorder, communication disorder, deaf-blindness, developmental delay, emotional disability, hearing impairment, learning disability, cognitive disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, traumatic brain injury and visual impairment. Individualized Learning also supports state and federal programs for English Learners, which incldes Indiana non-English speaking program (NESP), Title III (English Learners), and Title I Part C (education of migrant children).
